This is what getting negative looks like in the behavioral interviewing scene:

–”That’s good (referring to an answer), but it doesn’t really answer my question. Tell me….”

–”I need more detail about what you did in the situation. What you’re giving me is very high level, I need to dig into the details with you.”

–”That happened a long time ago. Do you have a similar experience that’s happened in the last year?”

–”Most of the examples you are giving me are team oriented. We value teams here, but for purposes of you being a candidate, I need to know what you did, not what the team did. Focus me on what you did.”

–”That’s a great example with a good outcome. Now tell me about a situation where you used a similar strategy but it didn’t work out for you.”

–”Tell me about a time where you’ve been fired or taken off a project due to your performance.”

–”I’m struggling to understand the details of what you’ve done in these situations. Once you tell me about a scenario, start giving me deep, deep details of what you did, not what the team did, not what you usually would do in that situation, but what you actually did.”

–”You keep telling me what you usually do in situations. I’m not interested in hypotheticals, I’m interested in what you have actually done.”

Some of these sound a little harsh to me — I’m picturing the job candidate in a blindfold with a cigarette dangling from his lips — but managers might find a varation of these suggestions useful.

Apple asked the court for “a permanent exclusion order” that would bar from entry “all mobile communications devices and components” made by HTC that carry the offending technologies, according to court documents.

Apple on Tuesday sued HTC for alleged, multiple patent violations, claiming the Taiwan-based manufacturer’s products infringe on its iPhone technology. Apple filed the actions with the ITC and the U.S. District Court for Delaware.

In the ITC filing, Apple says 11 HTC phones violate its patents, including the Nexus One, Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Pure, Imagio, and myTouch 3G. Apple claims HTC infringed on a total of 20 patents governing a range of technologies.

Apple wants the ITC to block HTC and its partners from “importing, marketing, advertising, demonstrating, warehousing inventory for distribution, distributing, offering for sale” any of the listed phones.

Apple is also seeking unspecified monetary damages in the Delaware court.

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs, in a statement. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own technology, not steal ours,” said Jobs.

Patent suits are not uncommon in the ultra-competitive tech industry, but vendors generally take a low-key approach and let court documents speak for themselves. That Apple issued a press release featuring its high-profile CEO indicates the company views HTC’s alleged infringements as a serious competitive threat.

“Apple has been and continues to be damaged by defendants’ infringement,” Apple said in its filing with the Delaware court. HTC has yet to file a formal response to the allegations.

One of the biggest reason that the success doesn’t last long is, “People strive for success”. If you strive for success it won’t last long, on the other hand if you keep on striving for EXCELLENCE, success will follow.

In the movie, 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan, always keeps on telling Madhvan and Sharman to strive for Excellence and not for success. The movie very well depicts what happens, when you strive for success and when you strive for excellence.

Aamir Khan, has stressed on choosing a profession, in which you have passion. If you don’t have passion for what you are doing, you cannot excel. You may get success but this success doesn’t last longs. And this is where most of the people suffer. Many of the people choose profession just because somebody, most probably their parents, wants them to go in that profession. But this is not right.

If you choose a profession in which you have the passion, you will have fun, you will enjoy working, you will strive for excellence, you’ll be happy and this is what real success is.

A lady in a gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston. They walked timidly without an appointment into the president of Harvard University’s outer office.

The secretary determined in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn’t even deserve to be in Cambridge. She frowned.

“We want to see the president,” the man said softly. “He’ll be busy all day,” the secretary snapped. “We’ll wait,” the lady replied.

For hours, the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn’t. The secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always regretted to do.

“Maybe if they just see you for a few minutes, they’ll leave,” she told him.

The President sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance obviously didn’t have the time to spend with them, but he detested the thought of gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office.

The president, stern-faced with dignity, strutted toward the couple. The lady told him, “We had a son that attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus.”

The president was not touched by her story, he was shocked. “Madam,” he said gruffly. “We can’t put up a statue for every student from Harvard who died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery.”

“Oh, no,” the lady explained quickly. “We don’t want to erect a statute. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.”

The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, then exclaimed. “A building? Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical plant at Harvard.” He could get rid of them now.

And the lady turned to her husband and said quietly, “Is that all it costs to start a University? Why don’t we just start our own?” Her husband nodded. The president’s face wilted in confusion and bewilderment.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford walked away, travelled to Palo Alto, California where they established the University that bears their name, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.
